Birmingham Publicity Association (BPA)
Dedicated to bringing those people who work in the creative industries in the Midlands closer together, while raising money for local good causes.
The BPA has existed in some form or other since 1930 and is dedicated to bringing those people who work in the creative industries in the Midlands closer together while at the same time raising funds for local, deserving charities.
The BPA does this via a calendar of long-standing social events throughout the year, where the emphasis is very much on ensuring our members have a good time and get to meet likeminded individuals within the industry. These events attract healthy attendances and make for excellent networking opportunities for individuals and companies alike.
A BPA Night At The Movies - The Rocky Horror Show
No matter what type of character you are, be you a Brad, a Janet, a sweet transvestite transexual from Transylvania or even if you just have a penchant for gold hot pants, you’re going to love the next BPA event. Our first ever BPA Night at the Movies with the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
It’s sure to be a fun evening and we’re obviously encouraging you all to attend in attire true to the spirit of the film. Yes folks, anything goes and the bolder, brasher and more outlandish the better!
We’ll be taking over the oldest working cinema in the UK, The Electric, on Thursday 2nd October, for this event. If you’ve never been, you are in for a treat at one of the true cultural gems in Birmingham’s crown which opened during the Silent Film Era, in 1909.
Before the film, from 6:00 PM, we’ll be holding a pre-screening reception upstairs at The Victoria public house, where we can all compare outfits, do a bit of networking and enjoy a welcome drink.
From 7:30 PM, we’ll be given a red carpet welcome at The Electric, but get ready to be papped and show them your best side. The Electric are also creating a couple of special Rocky Horror-themed cocktails too and you can look forward to a free one of those on arrival.
Get seated for 8:00 PM and a representative from The Electric will tell us a little more about the cinema and its own in-house magazine, Electrolyte. We’ll try and get the curtains up for 8:15 PM and there will be full waitress service throughout the movie.
Once the curtain comes down, that’s not the end. We are invited to stay in the cinema for more drinks and revelry and we’ll be having some more live entertainment to be confirmed. An exciting evening in prospect and so, just to confirm...
